So… brace yourself for one of those posts. The I-my-gwad-I-can’t-believe-how-long-it’s-been-since-I’ve-blogged-ones. Yeah. I’m not a big one for apologies, so let’s launch straight into what the hell I have been doing in the three and a half months since I last wrote here. I tell you it’s been busy, and it’s been exciting, and it’s been a lot of learning, a lot of changes and a lot of fun.
I’ll only bore you with the big ones:
New job: My first interview happened to also be the right opportunity. Sometimes the universe just works that way, but pretty much upon meeting my boss and consequently, the senior management team and the rest of the team at Origin, I knew I had found what I was looking for.
I started at the beginning of November as the marketing and communications manager, a new role created to help the managing director pivot, refocus and revitalise the business. Last year I spent the majority of my time auditing and cleaning up what I could in the existing mar-comms and related processes of the company, along with conducting customer surveys via email and phone, and distilling the “essence” of the company into clear value propositions to build on in preparation for a brand refresh this year.
So far in 2013, my days have contained a great deal of strategic planning and change management, and right now I’m gathering information to begin the process of a brand refresh in the coming months.
I’ve learned a great deal so far with heaps more to come, but that’s for later posts (when I get my a into g and do them).
New car: Most people wouldn’t think this was a big deal, but if you know me, you know I have only had a scooter for the past three years, so it is a big deal for me. I sold the scooter, though I get pangs of missing it on a regular basis, especially when the weather has been like it has, but am loving the freedom of having a car again.
New house: I’m looking set to go unconditional on my first home in the next couple of days. I. Can. Not. Tell. You. How. Excited. I. Am. But I can show you. <—- I am that pug and that TV = my new house.
New year: Yeah so one of my resolutions was to do a marathon and apparently I’m doing it on March 3rd. I vow never to say I would do something as stupid as that ever again in front of Vera. On the positive though, my other two resolutions were to buy a house (tick) and to cook more at home (as if I’ll ever be able to afford to go out anywhere ever again due to a thing called a mortgage.)
I’ll think hard and try and come back with a post worthy of your time and eyeballs over the next couple of weeks. Adieu til then.
